Bloomberg’s article “Amazon’s New Environmental Report Will Show How Bad Two-Day Shipping Is” mentioned the position from MIT Sustainable Logistics Director, Dr. Josué Velázquez Martínez, regarding the environmental impact of fast shipping for e-commerce.
With the increase on e-commerce and the same or two days delivery promise by companies such as Amazon, Velázquez Martínez talked about the negative impact that shorter deliveries times and not grouping items is increasing substantially. Therefore, he provides the option of the willingness from the customers to wait in order to reduce the environmental impact.
